In 2019, the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) began releasing misconduct and use of force records, in compliance with state law. The law, officially titled The Right To Know Act, peeled back the veil of secrecy that police officers typically enjoy when committing violence, including deadly shootings, and various types of misconduct against the public. SAPD is continuing to release these records but they are not accessible, ever announced publicly, by someone who does not know where to look. Inadvertent has collected over thousands of these public records and uploaded them to this Google Pinpoint database for the public.
